Marilyn Torres is a Special Education/Secondary Mathematics teacher at MDCPS. Marilyn believes that teaching is not just about instilling book knowledge in her students but also about teaching them values and social skills for everyday life. As a special education teacher Ms. Torres knows that there is no single teaching style/approach that is the right method for every student and because of this she works with each student in order to help them identify which style works best for them. Marilyn graduated Magna Cum Laude from Broward College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Mathematics Education in 2013. She found her passion for teaching as she was studying to become a pharmacist. During her spare time, she would tutor students in mathematics and that’s when she decided to change her major and study in the field of education. Marilyn began working for Miami Dade County Public Schools in August 2013 and she is currently on her fifth year of teaching.
